The name is fixed, the people using it aren&#8217;t. The purpose of many different people using the same name is to create a situation for which no one in particular is responsible and to practically examine western <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thing.de\/projekte\/7:9%23\/philosophy_index.html\">philosophical<\/a> notions of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thing.de\/projekte\/7:9%23\/identity_index.html\">identity<\/a>, individuality, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thing.de\/projekte\/7:9%23\/originality_index.html\">originality<\/a>, value and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thing.de\/projekte\/7:9%23\/truth_index.html\">truth<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone can become Karen Eliot simply by adopting the name, but they are only Karen Eliot for the period in which they adopt the name. Karen Eliot was materialised, rather than born, as an open context in the summer of 1985. When one becomes Karen Eliot one&#8217;s previous existence consists of the acts other people have undertaken using the name. When one becomes Karen Eliot one has non family, no parents, no birth. There are great artists out there who simply don&#8217;t have the ressources, health or freedom to apply for one grants after another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only artistic reaction to a world where everybody wants to be recognized 24\/7 is radical anonymity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2>The Anonymous Artist Strategy Explained:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Issue No.1: Cultural Hegemony<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Why do mass media reproduce their contents, rather than produce &#8220;something new&#8221;?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"selective attention test\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vJG698U2Mvo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; integrated in well-known patterns are accepted, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Media <strong>consumers look for amusement<\/strong> to distract themselves from the mechanised work process in factories and offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is why mass media rarely transmit critical information, media companies produce contents that are easily received and processed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&gt; <strong>network\/rhizome<\/strong> rather than hierarchical structures of information (also known as &#8220;tree of knowledge&#8221;)<br>&#8211; we select and look for information ourselves<br>&#8211; <strong>the &#8220;Social Sculpture<\/strong>&#8221; (might be interesting for artists, too)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Issue No.2: Individualism<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A main tool in the capitalist society ( you could call it the &#8220;American-Idol-Syndrome&#8221;&#8230;)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; to make people in their automated everyday life <strong>feel like &#8220;somebody special&#8221;<\/strong><br>&#8211; to <strong>avoid groups<\/strong> (unions &#8211; and therefore protest) (Henry Ford)<br>&#8211; to provoke <strong>competitive thinking<\/strong><br>&#8211; for mutual (!) <strong>surveillance<\/strong> and discipline (= Foucault&#8217;s Panopticon without guards)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8212;&gt;
